Oh Cuda! He is such a sweetie!
Connie Hale Gellner, pit stop here on your way home from Kansas??!!
It’s been a week since the event and we’ve spent the time catching up on sleep, catching up on the shelter day to day and catching up on the event itself. Whew! It was a doozy and we are thrilled by the outcome!
312 feral cats in traps, 34 pets
325 cats, 21 dogs
Thank you to Visiting Veterinarians International. Their professionalism and dedication are staggering. They all took the time from their own lives and schedules to help our community.
To Karen Granitz for all the planning and organization. Without her this would not have happened. She reached out to them and set up this whole event.
To Gifft Hill School for allowing us to use your facility. Having a more centralized location on island was perfect and you could not have been more gracious hosts.
To Craig and Pamela Holmes for coordinating all the trapping on the Coral Bay side of the island. They put in just as many hours and miles on their truck as we did.
To Cinnamon Bay Beach & Campground for allowing us to store traps before the event, hosting the Vets for a day of fun and for helping us get through the loads and loads of towels.
Thank you to all the restaurants that welcomed and took care of the Vets while they were here. They mentioned that St John has been the most hospitable place they’ve been. They were being thanked by residents everywhere they went. They felt like celebrities.
To all the local business that donated financially and the private donors. The vets donated their time but there is always a cost. Thank you for helping to make this possible.
And last but certainly not least, thank you to our fantastic volunteers!

The Animal Care Center (ACC) of St. John is located in Cruz Bay. The ACC addresses the problems of cruelty to, neglect and abuse of island animals. The shelter provides kennels for homeless dogs and inside cages for a limited number of homeless cats.
The ACC is a stable resource for the community, providing a no-kill shelter for homeless animals, a resource for animal lovers to find perfect pets, programs for island needs, and a community educational component.
We have a range of volunteering activities that we would love for you to participate in.
